Health Insurance

International students must have a health insurance plan when at college.

Universities often provide health insurance coverage, in other cases we will happily assist in the selection of the health insurance plan that works best for you and includes the necessary coverage.

There are often 3 common options to expect when it comes to health insurance.

Option 1: Health insurance for athletic related occurrences is covered through the college and you are responsible for the purchase of your own health insurance for non-competition related needs. This allows you to select an insurance provider of your own choice that will be specialized in needs of international students and is the cheapest of the options as you can opt out of coverage for when you are not in the United States. You can select policies that are relevant to you, often pre-determined by your university insurance requirements.

Option 2: Split coverage from your college, you receive health insurance for athletic related occurrences but are required to purchase the college approved and provided plan for non-competition related needs. The college determines the price of the additional health insurance and is easier to organize.

Option 3. Full coverage from your college for all scholarship recieving athletes, for when in competition, both on and off-campus. This is the less common of the options but is something that we include in our scholarship negotiations when trying to get you down to the most affordable option.
